The touch of Messiah: “Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” Whenever we pray for healing, we ask Messiah to touch us and heal us. We see in the Bible many instances of Yahshua touching people and the results are miraculous. What is it that the touch of Yahshua does to us?
Touch of cleansing: When Messiah came down from the mountain, a leper followed him and asked Messiah to heal him, if He will. Messiah touched him and the leper was cleansed immediately. In those days leprosy was seen as a form of punishment from Elohim. Miriam, the sister of Moses murmured against him because the Lord was speaking only through Moses. Elohim was angry with her and she became a leper. (Num.12:1-16). After Naaman was healed of his leprosy, Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, the prophet, secretly took two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments from Naamaan. Elisha knew about this and cursed Gehazi and the leprosy of Naaman came on Gehazi ‘and to his seed for ever’! (2 Ki.5:20-27). Leprosy is sent by Elohim and also healed by him. “I wound and I heal,” says Elohim.(Deut.32:39). Leprosy is a type of sin that we all have. At such times, we too should pray ‘Lord cleanse me!’ and he will cleanse us.
Touch of cooling: Mat 8:14-15, Jesus went to Peter's home, and there he saw Peter's mother-in-law sick in bed with a fever. He touched her hand; the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. We all know that when we have a fever, our body will be burning. We long for something to cool our bodies. The touch of Messiah cools us. When we are in troubles, anxious, desperate, ask for his cooling touch. Our fears will vanish, we will start thinking coolly! Messiah touched Peter’s mother in law and immediately the fever left her, her body cooled down, and she got up and started to work for Messiah.
Touch of opening: In Matt9:27-30 we read bout two blind men who followed Yahshua crying out,’Thou son of David, have mercy on us’. They had not seen Yahshua, they only heard the crowd which followed him. Their faith in Messiah grew as they heard of the miracles done by him. Rom.10: says’ faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.’ When Messiah touched their eyes, they were opened. Exo 4:11, ‘And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?’. Psa 146:8, ‘The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind:’ The touch of Yahshua is a touch of opening. In Luke.4:18 , Messiah proclaimed that the spirit of the Lord was on him for....the recovering of sight to the blind. While we live in this dark world of sin, Messiah opens our eyes to see his glorious light!
Touch of assurance: In Matt.17:1-18, we read about the experience on the Mount of Transfiguration. When Messiah went up the mountain along with Peter, James and John, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Messiah. Then the voice of Elohim was heard and the three disciples were so afraid that they fell on their faces. Psa.29:4 says,’ he voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.’ We cannot hear the voice of Elohim and stand! When Paul heard the voice of Elohim on the road to Damascus, he too fell down! (Acts.9:1-4) Then Messiah came and touched them and said ‘be not afraid’. His touch gave them courage and strength to rise. When Messiah touches us his touch gives us assurance, comfort, all fear is gone!
Touch of loosing: In Mark.7:32-35, we read of man who was deaf and dumb. Messiah put his finger into the man’s ear, spit and touched his tongue and said, ’Ephphatha’, which means be opened. Immediately his ears were opened, he could hear, and his tongue was loosened and he spoke clearly. When Elohim asked Moses to talk to Pharaoh, Moses tried to escape saying he was not eloquent and he stammered. Elohim said, ‘Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth,’ (Exo 4:12) .When Elohim touches us all bondages will be loosed and we will do his work. Isa 35:5-6 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. .. and the tongue of the dumb sing:
Touch of quickening: Luke.7:11-15. As messiah was going into the city of Nain, he saw a dead man, the only son of his mother (she was a widow), being carried out for burial. When Messiah saw her, he had pity on her. He touched the bier or coffin, and said, ‘young man, arise’. And the young man sat up and began to speak. Messiah showed his concern for widows. “Pure religion and undefiled before Elohim and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction”, (Jas 1:27 ). Messiah is the life giver. When we are dead in our sins, he gives us life. When we are baptised, our old man is dead and we rise to a new life. ‘Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ’(Eph 2:5). For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. (John. 5:21).
Touch of healing: In the garden of Gethsemane, when Messiah was betrayed by Judas, the servants of the High Priest and the soldiers surrounded Yahshua. One of the disciples, Peter, took a sword and cut off a servant’s ear. (Luke.22:50-51). Messiah touched the servant’s ear and healed him. Even in the hour of his betrayal, Yahshua Messiah was ‘about his Father’s business’ (Luke.2:49). Messiah’s touch is a touch of healing. He heals the broken hearted, “he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, (Luke.4:18)”. We see a proof of his power, goodness and mercy in his healing. Deut.32:39 says, ‘I wound and I heal’.
Touch of blessing: When Messiah was preaching in Judea, some parents brought their children to him, that he should touch them. But his disciples rebuked them, probably as they thought children might be a distraction to Messiah. But Messiah asked them to bring the children to him and he touched them and blessed them. What a privilege to be blessed by Yahshua Messiah! Pro 10:22 says, ‘The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.’
What a great blessing it is to be touched by Yahshua Messiah! His touch cleanses us, cools us, looses all bondages, opens our eyes, assures us, heals us, gives us life and blesses us! Hallelujah!
